Debunking mental health myths 👀

What is mental health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

Is your mental state, your fault?

Here are some myths debunked for ya, "mental disorders are peoples' own fault", NO, it's not like you went shopping for one right? Why would anyone choose such trauma and suffering? Mental illnesses can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, economic status, race, etc. They are believed to be caused by a combination of factors such as genetics, environment, personality, diet, and stress levels.

When should you get help?

"You should get help when something happens", this is extremely wrong. Even if you don't have one, it doesn't mean your mental health is not important, in fact, you should start getting help when you see any symptoms not when you're having a breakdown ( this is not medical advice, don't consider it to be)

How common is this?

You may agree with everything you read and see on social media because you may think it's rare or won't ever happen to you, well think again because mental disorders are more common than you think; 21.4% of 13 to 18-year-olds in the US have had a severe mental disorder at some point!

If you've got it, can you get rid of it?

If you ever feel like you're going through something, it doesn't mean you can't treat it- mental illnesses ARE fixable. Successful treatment methods will vary from person to person, but generally, therapy, medication, self-care, positive thinking, or a combination of these can work wonders for mental health conditions. Some people may only need diet and exercise, for example, while others require that plus therapy. Others may only respond to medication; however, the important thing is to get help and not feel ashamed to do so.

If we went on debunking every myth and wrong perception, we'd be here forever. To end with, you are not weird, special, or crazy if you have a mental disorder, you're still you. Getting help won't kill you, it'll save you- if you need help you may want to reach to on Instagram, we recently gave away 3 consultations with them!
